What are the best knots to use for Backing to Fly Line loop to loop connections? The Bimini Twist works well when forming the loop in the backing, but the nail knot that I've tried with on the fly line end is bulky and hangs on the guides. Anyone have any better suggestions for a knot to use on the fly line end? I'd like to make the process of changing lines easier. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've used braided mono loops and they worked well, but now prefer a whipped loop using the flyline, coated with UV Knotsense.

I also use a whipped loop at the end of my fly lines, almost exclusively, as recommended in Lefty Kreh's knot book. For me, it's easier to deal with than the double nail knot etc., although in an emergency you'd need to have a bobbin with you, whereas the nail knots you could do anywhere if you had the skill/patience.

I've never had a whipped knot pull out, ever, in many years of fishing. I think it would be plenty strong for any kind of fish, although on large tarpon, tuna, and the like you might want to tie directly to the line, rather than use a loop. But if you want a loop, I think the whip knot works great and it's very simple to tie.

I found this video demonstration online (there are others as well if you search):

Thanks to you both for the feedback and detailed video resource!!! I'm getting all my loops tied up tonight.

Well your most likelly finished with your lines.but you may want to get some one to show you how to do this. With fly lines that have a braided core. I strip off 12 inches of the line to get down to the core. I then spice the backing to the core. This leaves you with no knot at all. it is completlly smooth. It can easelly be taken a part and easlly put back together. You end up with 6 inches of backing inside the core and 6 inches of core inside of the backing.
