I have a 2000 yamaha 15hp 4 stroke outboard. I had fired it up and realized no water pissing. Finally found an impeller and figured out how to get the LU off and replaced it. Now it wont turn over !!!! Figured it must be the starter motor since the solonoid clicks. After removing the motor assy. , I removed the brush assy on the bottom and it is definately shot. Checked around and it looks like it is going to cost $300 for a new one!!! seems a bit much for a small electric motor.

ANy chance of a rebuild or a more reasonable price for the assy?

Thanks

why replace the whole starter if you just need brushes- indivdualparts are available for these motors

used electrical parts are just some else's problems

Any good starter/alternator rebuild shop will rebuild it for about $100.
