Went hunting down our Wico. Co farm (Md) I got in a good stand over a dryed creek bed in morning. It had lots of sign as there was water in a deep hole right under the stand. Had deer all over me around 5:30 am- 6 am. But all were gone by shooting light. No prob - had afternoon to hunt.

Around 3 pm head back in a pine farm off a corn field. It had been pushed down because the ears were so pitiful (lack of rain). There were plenty for the deer to eat and the sign showed they were hitting it hard. At 4:30 I hear a plane flying low over the pines and then as it goes overhead I get pelted with granules. This happened the rest of the afternoon - I got a direct hit 3 times. I would have moved but I put a friend in a stand 90 yards away and felt it would bust his hunt. He got hit in our hardwoods only once, he also saw deer. A large doe and fawn came in a he cleanly missed the doe. Then after he shot a 10" spike came in, we debated about whether he should have drilled him. He let him pass, maybe next year we decide.

We thought the granules were probably fertilizer, but if anybody knows what they use in pine farms let me know!

I'd say it was fertilizer. It has grown in popularity to fertilize pines for a better stand.
