I need to find a good butcher in the Fishersville area. Anyone know of any? I don't have the facilities anymore like I did in MD and last season was tough. After watching over 30 different deer this weekend I'm going to need some help!

I have never paid anyone to clean a deer. I have used a stick and rope as a gambel. I have use arbors, ladders, and retaining walls with a board to hang them. we have also used tables and tailgates to clean deer. just be creative, cleaning it is part of the hunt.

I have never paid and anyone to clean a deer but i did take one to a guy last yr. that hung it in a cooler box for 10 days then cut all the meat in to steaks. Then ran them threw a cuber to tenterize them. All scrap was ground to burger. Double wraps the meat on trays ready for the freezer when you pick it up. All for $40. Best deer meat i've ever ate.
I know guys that take 6-8 deer a yr to him.
I guess this is what he's asking for, not someone to pull the hide off.

I hear ya Bass_Hunter. I have one of them tenderizor deals that makes cube steak as well as a grinder. We save scraps and a friend thats a butcher gets us beef fat to mix and grind for burger as well as pork fat to mix and make sausage. For a few bucks several hunters can go together and purchase teh equipment to do it all yourself. In my book it is much better when I do it myself.

This year I'm gonna buy some casings and make link sausage.

My inlaws have a dairy farm (actually two farms) in Fishersville.

I hear you about doing deer yourself, however with 3.5 hour trips home, limited hunting time and the fact that I had to leave all my friends and family in MD that had a walk in fridge, industrial strength grinder, etc..I need to pay someone. Last year I did 3 deer by myself and it was a pain. Eventually I'll have something set up there, but right now it's just a pain.

Edited to say as of yet I have never paid anyone to do my deer either.

Hey man if the cleaning and processing is a problem let me know and I will have my Wife and her Grandmother do it if you get me permission to hunt those farms. They are only 15 minutes from my house. [grin][grin][grin]
That is how My deer get processed I kill, I Gut, I skin and Quarter and they do the rest.
