I generally just use necks in my traps, but I was thinking about experimenting with razor clams for the early season. Trying to decide if it is worth the trouble.

I have used them before with good results May to late June. As other posts have observed, clams work well in the early season then not so much later.

I change my baits up too. Some tpx with nx, others with clams, fish, etc.

I use a smaller wire tie and run the tie thru the bag and a wire in the bottom of the trap and draw it tight. This closes the bag and also fastens it to the ctpx. 2-3 clams per bag.

I make up my bags the night before and leave in a cooler.

I cant come up with a pic now. Maybe later.

THis year I plan to try using the bags with snoods in the traps.

When you guys use the clams in the bags, are they put in whole or are they crushed?

I agree - clams are best as far as I'm concerned...I use them myself.

I crab at night so nobody can see where i go - no sun beating the crabs to death and a lot less competition - anybody rmember those days? Makes too much sense for the NRP to allow it!
