I made a longer post on the main TF Chesapeake board about my kayak trip this morning. http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/showthread.php/285452-Up-close-and-personal-with-amorous-carp. For those of you located near Annapolis, the carp are on their spawning beds at the shallow flats in the headwaters of the South River. I did not catch any but had a great time paddling around in water less than a foot deep watching the fish scoot out of the way and sometimes thrash around 50 ft away in their spawning rituals. I also had a bunch of 15" to 18" carp bang into the bottom of my kayak and others that splashed me as they took off at the last minute.
I have heard that several other western shore rivers have similar carp gatherings. It is a very impressive and enjoyable spectacle.
