Trolled for 5 hours from Sandy Point up Va shoreline across from Stewarts and back down river. No stripers caught. Around 1:15pm decided to try some croaker fishing in 19-25 feet of water just up river from #7 buoy. In two drifts caught two croakers one about 11 inches and one 15 inches (no pics). Used frozen raw shrimp from Food Lion which is my favorite croaker bait. Had niece and her husband for their first trolling trip and really wanted them to catch a striper or two, but we will try again another day.

That's not a good sign when the Gracie Girl doesn't catch fish. I wonder if the warm weather has pushed the fish out of the river?

Mushy, I have a cousin that works at the Great Falls Fire Dept. and he said they were doing swift water rescue practice below Great Falls above DC last week and saw big stripers in river. Maybe that is a sign big fish still upriver and heading back down river next couple of weeks, I sure hope so myself.

I tried Thursday and Friday from St. Clements on down to Stewarts and had no luck.. Trailered over to the Morattico oyster bar Sat and Sunday and got a total of 62 croakers ..

dave, Evan was doing pretty good on croakers in the Coan. Try there and anchor. THere are several oyster bars in there and he even doubled up Sunday AM within minutes of his first cast. 10" average.
