got a report that necks out did clams for this time of the year hard to believe what you all think

Not due to location. It's more due to water temp. If it's super early, for some reason necks will outcatch clams. I'm not sure if it's because it too cold for the clams to put out enough of a scent or because the crab are not strong enough to want to fool with clams. The first weekend of April, I went with a friend to test out his new boat and we had a line with clams and necks every other bait. Every crab we caught came on the necks (Only about 3 dozen).
These kind of reports will always be around. without any details, I wouldn't put much faith in them, not saying that it doesn't happen but on a consistent ,daily basis,,clams have always resulted in a greater catch for me, that is why they are used by many commercial crabbers.
