Hunted a new peice of property this afternoon about 3 miles from the house. I did a little scouting Sunday and hung a couple stands. Got in one on the edge of a small field about 4 this afternoon. Well, about 5 I see movement on in the woods on the other side of the field. At first I thought it was a dog but it turned out to be an albino deer, actually two of them along with two of the brown flavor. Both albino's were does as well as one of the others and one looked to be a small six pointer. They never entered the feild offering a shot. With only a short time to hunt in the afternoons this week I'm gonna be after one of them white ones every afternoon.

When you see one of these albino deer, just do a slow stalk they can not see very well and will not run very far. All of that white make them easy to see and stalk. They get confussed very easy and just stand there. I believe all should be culled from the herd. Although they are very beautiful animals. You will also find out that most are button bucks. Good Luck

The ones on my farm won't be culled by me.

Anyway, in order to be a true albino deer, which is very, very rare, they have to have pink eyes. If they don't, they are just pie-balds (or however that is spelled).

I killed one a couple of years ago, pink eyes and pink nose. I have seen a pie bald this year already, some say they are bad luck to kill.

Do you honestly believe they are bad luck to kill? Maybe if you are lucky enough to kill a pie-bald... just wave your magic gun three times around his antlers in a counter clock wise position you will release the spell...please!!![grin]

If you want to be superstitous them it would probably be bad luck to kill any deer.......something like their souls being trapped in the woods, etc, etc.

Oh, and never kill one with a single antler coming straight out of the forehead......I know that is really bad luck.

Supposedly the bad luck story comes from the albinos being the spirit of Pocohantos. I've heard the myth of bad luck for shooting the albinos. Of course my father in law shot one a few years ago and his luck seems to be just fine.

Well I did kill a wall hanger the following year.

Some Indian tribes held belief that if you shoot at one and miss it, you would soon be sick as a result. If you shot and killed one, you would soon be dead. Just a myth, right....

My grandfather killed two running together in 1970, he still hunts today. So much for the myths. I can tell you for sure that I will test the truth of the myths myself if I get the chance.

I hunted the same stand this afternoon but had zero sightings.

DEAN wo moved the stand after dark into the woods a little more to get a better chance at them before they come to the field.

One more thing..our BIG Surry buck still lives, Adam had a 80 yard sighting this afternoon.
