Fellow fisherman, i sincerely request any help that you may be able to provide. Memorial Day weekend.....I'm finally going to get my surf on in OC (around the 120th Street area). Been dying to fish with the long rods for some time and am hopeful that there are a few bass and blues still working the surf. I will have bunker heads (bass) and finger mullet (blues) so I hope that will put me in a good position to lay into some fish.

Onto my real question......

I was invited by a Selbyville, DE local to go out on his boat for some fishing over the weekend. Problem is that he is not very familiar with the fishing grounds. I told him that since he was providing the boat, I would help to provide some locations to most likely fish bunker, etc on the bottom.

Guys/Gals, I'm not looking for your hotspots (not that you would give them out), but just some areas that we may be able to hook into some blues and maybe a few bass. I think we will have bunker and finger mullet with us and a decent amount of plugs, etc. Again, I don't expect to be hand-held, but an area would be great. It appears that the Ocean City Inlet is a decent spot, but just don't know if that is too far from Assawoman Bay. I'm used to fishing Cape Cod, so bare with me here.

I appreciate the attention and thank you in advance for the advice/local knowledge. I really hope to post some pics of my cows from either the surf or the boat :)

Feel free to send me an email as well (rkarpowski@yahoo.com).

Best Regards,
Rob - Arlington, VA

The inlet has been pretty good for stripers, but its hard to say what it will be like in a few weeks....the same things you use in Cape Cod will catch um down here-----If you run in the back bay, DO NOT get out of the channel!!!!!!!! you will run aground in a hurry if yoy don't know the waters...As for the surf, it is hit or miss that unless you like small sharks and skate...they are a given....try back as your time gets closer and I am sure there will be some up to date info here

Make sure you navigate by the temporary bouys - there are some new ones where the bars shifted over the winter.

If you want to drift for flounder from rt 90 down to the oc airport I think you stand a pretty good chance of pullage....not sure about a keeper though.

cross2114.....you got my attention....where are these changes?

The cut in front of Bahia has changed a bit since last season for sure......also a pretty big hump /bar near the end of the runway in the South bay

It's been 3 weeks since i put the boat in and ran it up to South Bethany and noticed this. Haven't been able to get back down to use the boat again. As I remember, north of the first green marker north of Rt. 50, the red temps have been moved south. After turning north (using the temp red bouy rather than the permanent red marker on the pole) all the temp markers have been moved all the way to last red marker on the pole before Rt. 90.
Every year, i run a new track and erase the previous one.
Two years ago my son-in-law and I watched a pretty big cruiser try to use that red pole marker and run hard aground between it and the temp red. That was hard to watch and hope to never see it again.
