Back Bay

Anyone done any scouting down that way yet? I was thinking I might pull the boat down and do the lottery next week if there are any birds around.

Moorefun, I went down about 1 week and 1/2 ago and there was some bluebills in groups trading up and down the bay, saw some big ducks but not as many as divers, should do good on teal on the lotto hunts in Pocahantas marsh, Im hunting Back bay tommorow and will give you a report.

Thanks, I remember talking with you last year a couple of times on this board during the season. I'm deer hunting Saturday morning in NC. Hope you do well! At least we now have some weather that feels like duck hunting.

Yeah weather should be good and cool in the morning, hopefully the blackheads will be flyin, Ive hunted in Currituck this week and did fairly well, never limited out but had good shoots. good luck

Moorefun, we hunted the opener in Back Bay, never fired a gun, we saw smaller numbers of Blackheads and some widgeon, also a couple of flights of black ducks, heard plenty of shooting in the morning around us but nothing for us, heard there are good #'s of bluebills in Maryland right now hopefully the cold front will push them our way.

Do you use coot decoys when hunting in Currituck?

If so, how do you like them? Do you think they make a difference?

Thinking about adding some to the rig.

Getting ready to get a dozen Herters coots, for a long line, have heard they work well, I ll let you know once I try em, we have seen 2 large rafts of coots out there, around 300 swimming together, 1 bunch hangs around the boat launch and the other out in the sound.
