Spent Friday to yesterday camping in central Virginia and participating in a Heroes on the Water Kayak Tournament. http://www.heroesonthewater.org/
A great cause. It was organized by the folks that make VISIPole: http://www.yakattack.us/
The event was fun and as a first timer met some real good people. Fished Briery Creek Lake which has a trophy LM bass fishery. I only found some little ones so did not place in the tournament. But that lake was cool to explore. Trees were left standing when it was flooded so you're in 30 feet of water looking up at tree tops!
Got rained on pretty good Saturday night and survived just fine as we were well prepared. Overall, good time, good cause and well worthwhile.

Very cool. Sounds like a fun weekend, even with the rain. I heard good things about that lake, but I haven't had a chance to check it out.

It was an awesome event. Several of these Heroes on the Water tournaments are out there. Could be another in Norfolk. Great cause. We plan to make it an annual event for us. Camping, kayaking, fishing, great cause... what else is there?!
My pics came out terrible. I don't know what I did wrong. Didn't take many and only a couple came out decent. Maybe because I put the camera in a waterproof case typically used for diving. Not used to that. The only ones that came out were a couple of my sweetie and one of my OK Drifter ride. We got rained on and one of the tent came out. For whatever it's worth here ya go...
Tight lines for the weekend!
P.S. After all the rain which, we did OK in and a neighbor left to go to a motel, finally got the missus to agree to get a new tent! :yes:

i got the Fuji finepics W2Z for that same reson, the Fuji is water proof and even takes pics and short video up to 3m underwater. yak and GF look like they got through the storms ok but the tent not so much. :wink44:

Yeah, that tent is done. Seams are splitting so we plan to replace it. Without that tarp we probably would have had to move as well!
Me and the missus did a boat trip yesterday. Did well at Love Pt. Posted a report on the main board. Would like to hook up with a posse for a kayak trip. Any plans for tomorrow?
