Haven't been able to spend much time in the woods this year. Was curious to hear the opinions of the regular MD E. Shore hunters. How has the rut been? Has it been going off for a while? Do you think the opening day of gun season could still see some rut action. Thanks in advance. Paul

Our crew will be on our 500 acres in Centreville. We have seen very little signs of the rut. A few small bucks chasing does a bunch of scrapes and a few rubs have appeared in the past 8-9 days. I think with the low below freezing and every jack ass and their brother in the woods, the deer should be moving hard. We have some nice deer on our property, so I hope to see a few good ones by mid morn on the deer hang.

I hunt a property in Wicomico Co. and since Nov. 1, I have seen the best rutting activity in 10 years. Big deer chasing does, however most of the chasing I have seen has been between 10am and 2pm. Last Saturday I watched a 140 class buck chase a doe throught the forest at 1PM. With the winds and rain having taken place the week, I woud suspect that the rut will continue through this weekend. Best of luck on opening day.

I hope you are right about that Pelagic. I hunt in Wicomico too, but I haven't been down yet. My area, on our property has been untouched since last January. So I am hoping that they travel through Saturday morning.

Thanks for the replies gents. I'll be in Somerset waiting patiently for the big one. And if he doesn't show, I'll shoot his sister. No matter what though I'll be in the woods every day next week, enjoying the time away from the world!!!!!!

I goose hunted talbot county and saw three bucks in my goose field by 9:00 and a nice 10 at around 11 am. I'd say they're out looking for ladies.
