Read the post about the 5 gal bucket . Guess what the legal rec catch limit is here in Fl .

Right from the book ,10 gallons WHOLE per harvister per day . I guess the whole means you can't back them or cut them up in any way . Couldn't you see yourself trying to squeeze a bunch of 8 inchers into a 5 gallon bucket . I also just noticed that there is no size limit in the reg book for recs.

Strange down here . They call what we call pots , traps . Your allowed 5 of those big boys with a rec license . I have also been told that the 5 number also applies to pullups per man .

I haven't heard of or seen any regs for trot lines for crabs.

With all the toothy critters down here and the spider crabs your bait in open pull ups probably wouldn't last 10 minutes . I guess the sharks and rays would be chomping your trot line to pieces .

Like the other post said I couldn't imagine trying to keep crabs alive in a 5 gallon bucket esp.with this heat down here in Fl . I guess you could just paint the bucket black and throw some seasoning on and put the lid on and their steamed before you get off the boat .

Good crabbing guys . I'll be home in July . Can't wait to go crabbing . Any action in Back or Middle River yet ?

whynot, the simple thing to do is use an orange poly basket like the type I have on my web site. They are exactly 10 gallon capacity and they'll definitely hold more 8" crabs than any two 5 galllon buckets could. Plenty of holes in the side to allow fresh air to get to the crabs too! Problem solved.

That's what I figured . I looked all through there regs . and doubt if any of their officers would have a clue . Guess you would have to keep a 5 gal bucket on board to show them . Nobody seems to know squat about rec crabbing in this area .
