I went to DGIF yesterday because I was curious of the laws concerning kayaks. Unless it has material other than paint on it, a boat doesn't need a floating blind license. I would like to avoid paying the fee and just hunt out of my tan colored kayak, but will it make the birds flare off? I plan to hunt seaducks and maybe jumpshoot some puddlers. Should I keep the yak as it is, or brush it and pay the fee?

Brush it and pay the fee. It helps for conservation of ducks and duck managment for all. Or just paint it green. Good luck.

I dont brush my canoes.... but then again Im cheap cheap!!!

just make sure not to fire those 3.5 inch shells broadside unless you want an impromptu eskimo roll! A yak can be a great hunting vessel. also great to stash and hunt from the brush then you don't need the license.
