These guys are right out of the old Winchester ammo posters from the 1950's..............

Others are sleeping.....I think (definately not doing anything productive)

Alot of deer seen on the opening day but only two taken, others no shot or they passed. One sika was lost as the blood trail was hard to follow in the marsh.
My 6 pt. sika was pushed and might have gotten away had he not doubled back and then right into my "zone".

Sunday was very quiet.

Monday, Phil takes a sika spike and nothing else of interest was seen.

Some more deer seen and passed on but nothing of interest and nothing with a big white tail and big brown horns........our Camtracker just turned out one of its bests rolls........still alot more NICE sikas and WT's.

More to follow.....

Middle Friday & Saturday.............

Numerous does seen by all but only 2-3 were taken, I believe others are rack hunting (they may not say they are but the fact that they did not take any does is more proof than their words.
No bucks????????

I hope to make a go of it on the last Saturday.

By the way......all three sika in the photo were shot on dry ground.

Sure they probably came from the marsh and stepped in a rain puddle or two but any boots will do.

We might pick a stand a little closer to the marsh than others.......but it cant really matter as all are fairly close and we know that they venture way out of the marsh but probably start to head back or bed down toward first light.

When ever we make an effort to get a Sika we would end up with whitetail as they are fairly intermixed on our property.

Mark

Oh, you do have to shoot a little better because they are a smaller target.
This one is full size and usually considered a trophy at 6 points (dont really get much larger horns)

We hunted sika on Monday, had 2 come across the marsh but didn't get a shot off, they are hard to see in the fragmites

Hopefully we can add some whitetail bucks to our hanging pole.........if we do photos will be posted.

Otherwise we will regroup for the later seasons.

Well we finished out the season without taking any real whitetail bucks.
Jeff bicked up a huge doe on Tuesday(?) hunting after the snow and I picked up a button buck with the largest rack I have ever seen.........they must have been 3/4 ".

The Camtracker is out in full force and it has already shown us what we have waiting for us in the next couple weeks for late muzzle and late firearms.
