You may want to see what frequency you need.
ICOM is definitely the best bang for your buck. Magnums are definitely the ticket, but they are PRICEY as you probably know. I've always prefered the digital handheld type boxes over the needle type such as the wildlife boxes. JMO though. I dont know of any for sale myself. Maybe after hunting season???

Personally I have two. (None for sale) One is the RC-10 Icom scanner. The other is the Blue Box made by Wildlife International. Paid $500 for the Icom and $1100 for the Blue Box. Perfer the Icom 10 to 1 over the Blue Box. Only problem is you can't buy the Icom RC-10 anymore. They stopped making it. Might try e-bay. Saw one of the RC-10's on there last week. It sold for $335, but it didn't have the Amplifier or antenna needed to track the dogs. My 2 cents worth!!!!
