To find out your best buddy for the last five years has been shot by some a$$hole!!! My 5 year old choclate lab was found dead yesterday with 4 bullet holes in it, a young guy saw him laying in a field and went out and called my tag that was on his collar. I have been in a deer stand before and had dogs run deer right by me and the last thing I thought was to shoot someones dog. I've been hunting all my life and I can't understand why someone would shoot a pet dog, or any dog that was not trying to inflict pain on them or their family. My dog could have cared less about a deer, I have watched deer come out at my house and he would look at them and then just go on with his business. This makes me so mad!! He was found on the corner of Marsh Creek Rd and Bethlehem Rd in Caroline County. If anyone has info regarding this matter please contact me, and if for some reason the guy that did this reads this, FU@K YOU and if you were a real man you would contact me yourself! This is a picture of him, he is the big male on the right:

Just think twice before you shoot a dog and think about yourself having to drive out in a field, pick up your own dog with four gun holes in it and put him in the back of your truck. Poon

That is sad. I am sorry for your loss. That just plain sucks.
Call the police, animal control and the game warden. You might not be the only one. Maybe someone has a bit of info and you can find the ******. Even if they don't have a clue to who it is, if there are other, it can go a long way to solving it.
Please report it. At least you have a chance. If they do find him, let the law handle it (for now). Then wait a year or two before you pay him back. You can find some very effective way to make him pay ($$$$).

Sorry to hear that. That is a beautiful dog. When I was a kid my Irish Setter was shot in the leg, he got out again and he never returned home. That would make me mad enough to kill or severely injure someone. One thing that comes to mind is that the dog was mistaken for a deer being brown in color. ( I know you are not supposed to shoot at something brown in the woods but there are some wacko's out there) Again I am sorry and hope you can move on after this tragedy. [sad] Kepone

I don't even know what to say to that, other than I am really sorry for your loss. I know what our animals mean to us.
If you do find out who did it, and need help beating the sh!t out of the guy, I will be more than happy.

Man that just plain sucks. Can't really put it in words, SORRY[sad]
Seriouslly report it though. Stats prove that folks that have a propesity for torturing or needlessly harming animals commit other violent crimes towards humans as well........4 shots is no accident! What a f*cking a$$hole.
This is part of the reason I don't get too excoted aboput gun season. You shouldn't have to do it, but you might wanna keep your pets in until it's over.
I hit a man's dog two years ago. It just ran out in the street, he was devistated as was I, you gotta be hurting and just plain pissed as hell.

Poon,
No words explain loosing a canine friend. My first thought was a mistake shot thinking he was a deer but NOWAY can you shoot 4 times and not know.
Details only bring out the pain but find out all the hunters who hunt that property because 4 shots means he did not go far find tree stands in the area find out angles of shot ect and you can find out alot from this. I have been chased by a few Pit bull looking dogs back in frederick and one shot in the air scares em' even one shot at their feet makes em run like hell.
Poon if you need anything I am around the corner....Jason
Hopefully my dog will have pups by April and we looking for Chocs out of her if you want one has your name on it!

Poon,
My blood is boiling, I'd like to kick the b@stards @ss. I feel for you, there is no worse feeling than losing a good buddy.
Please report it, this murderer needs to be caught and locked up, 4 holes to me says he liked it, and that type of person has no place in this world.

sorry, no excuse for it!

That really sucks some people are just evil. Maybe you can hang out back there where he was murdered; the deer hunter probably has a stand or something and will be back.

Poon: that sucks big time. So sorry for your loss. others had good points to take note of, like Choptank's comments. I'd also see if you can retain any of the slugs/bullits as you may have seen on CSI shows, authorities can match it to a specific barrel. keep in mind that it may not have been a deer hunter. awhile back i saw some story about a guy in virginia who had a chicken farm that got busted for killing dogs - he claimed they were getting in the hen houses but authorities said he was shooting any dogs crossing on his property. There are some sick people out there. Please report your loss to the police - as far as i'm concerned, they murdered a member of your family. I know it may be too soon but getting a new dog now may help ease the pain. God bless you & your family, jim

My dad had the same thing happen and if he could have proven it I would have lost him to prision. I heard him tell the suspect if I could prove you did it you would get the same. Buck our lab and duck huntting buddy was part of our faimly. You have my simpathy and may the man that did this experance twice the hell you have and hopefully he never kills another dam thing as long as he hunts (or claims to) WHAT a piece, coward, jerk, ect. This is what gives the rest of us hunters a bad name. [sad][sad][angel][angel][angel]

Sorry for your loss, poon. I had labs for many years, and feel your pain. Let me know if you need help tracking the SOB down, but as it's been suggested already, I would contact animal control and the game warden, especially. It could be that the sick puke has killed dogs before, not that hearing that makes it any easier to swallow, partner.

that is really too sad to lose a dog like that! I know mine is my best buddy...its like his only goal in life is to please me. I would be wild if someone did that to my dog and where I live the chance of that happening is even greater. I have a friend up the road from me that had his dog shot and the guy that shot it reported it to the game commision and said it was chasing a deer so my friend had his dead dog returned to him with a 500 dollar fine! the game commision in Pa says if your hunting deer and you see a dog chasing one you shot the dog. the thing that really stinks about that is if your dog wonders away in deer season its a good chance he might not make it back because anyone hunting can shoot him and simply say he was chasing a deer
Poon I have been to angry to post up.
All I can say is God bless.

Poon, that is enough to get someone hurt real bad, sorry to hear about you loss brother, hang in there, If you know alot of hunters were you live someone will eventually spill the beans and you will find out, your family is in my thoughts, we had someone feeding dogs poison in my neighborhood a few years back, told my wife if I caught someone doing that to mine, fit me for an orange jumpsuit!!!!!! Hope you find em
Also just a thought but if you hve small convienience stores nearby post up some reward posters, I would also find out who owns the land and who hunts it, my guess young teenage year hunters of early twenties that dont know any better.
Like Ranger said let the law handle him first then pay him back afterwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Choptank, that was a very generous offer for Poon on the puppy in april, Hats off to you, it just shows you there are still good hunters out there who look after each other, I have only met a few of you on here but this is a very supportive bunch, glad to be part of it.

Poon, cannot say how bad I feel for you!! I look at my 15 year old choc.lab and wonder what would I do if this were to happen to me? rage and serious hurt to perp.would probably result in jail time for me also. Hopefull the law will question everyone hunting this land. Was this a possible road shooting? I will gladly offer a free day of offshore fishing to the person that gives information to the arrest and conviction of the person guilty of this cowardly crime, capt.Ken HOT SPOT SPORTFISHING OC MD 443 271 2840

I am deeply saddened by your loss.My wife and i have 2 labs 1 yellow and the other is black if someone was to shoot my dogs for no good reason they better hope the guy makes it to jail before I make it to him. They are like your kids that never grow up.I don't think the law would do much to you for inflicting as much pain on this person as you possibly can because cruelty to animals is much more of a serious offense than battery on a human being,Our prayers go out to you and your family for your loss
