I knew it was still too early for flounder and puppy drum, but I headed for Point Lookout to see if flounder arrived in good number. Also tried for puppy drum.

Yap, it was too early. But enjoyed croaker fishing and most of all enjoyed calm and peaceful scenery.

Here is my video fishing log:

thats a damn greedy hardhead to go after that big bait! i am amazed by the fight those little croakers put up on my LTG rod lots of fun. went to the severn sunday morning and fished from shore at the navy base, around 5-7am caught 6 HH about 9-11" and had a double with a 11' WP AND 10" croaker nice fight on LT. had enough for the mom in-law to have a nice dinner.

someone posted that the saw a 6' shark by the 450 bridge on the severn river, thats pretty rare, i hope it eats some of the rays swarming around! :censored: rays

Nice video. I had been thinking about hitting PLO, but maybe I'll wait a bit longer.

yap. I will wait at least 2 weeks. Spot are the best indicator to me and they weren't there in full force yet.

Joe,
Next time try Cornfield Harbor for flounder. As you come out of Lake Conoy, head out past the nets and take a right. There is a dropoff there that goes from 15 to 40 feet. Its probably a 1 mile paddle to the spot. The flounder are at the dropoff. Rockfish too. Doesn't matter what tide, as long as there is good water flow. You''ll get them. Squid/minnow combo is the best bait. You want the bait to be straight under the yak though so you might have to go up to 5oz weights depending on the tidal flow. The reason you want that bait right beneath you is because you'll get a much better feel for the bite and really cut down on tangles. Fishing for them this way has put many keepers in the yak for me. Good luck!

I think you meant near Cornfield Point. Yes, One of the kayaker showed up to my house, and I explained what you typed.
Thansk for the tip,

Joe

Joe, as always great video and report! I was there I think the week after you (June 12th) and fished straight out in front of the lake Conway inlet. We found a few croaker as well but also a couple of flatties, only got one keeper. 21.5''. I would say try heading out further into some of the deeper water.

That's a sweet flattie, redfish. What were you using?

Minnow on a green teaser, it was the best fish of the day. I'm looking forward to heading back down there!

Great!
The best pic I saw this year.
It looks Flounder are there in full force. Most of keeper I caught last two years are 19-22" range. Let's go get them. BTW, I saw some kayakers were catching minow by using a minow trap at the launch site.
