Ran into a crabber who was stopping in for lunch at BK in Edgewood. Asked where he was crabbing and he said he was in the Bush river all morning. Looked like he had about 20 topless traps. He said he did great last year and decided to go a little earlier than usual this year. Had that "yeah I know I'm way early" look as he told me he got nada.
Another 4 weeks before they show?

For everyone who says it's to early for the Bush... Your right! 30 traps, no crabs. There was only one other boat crabbing out there, so it must have been the guy you saw. The heavy wind did not help very much either. Took a few waves over the sides when I tried turning around after missing my crab bouys because of the wind and tide. Beats working!

2 weeks.
Right now they are doing very well in the Patapsco.
With the lack of rain, they're going to move fast. I honestly believe they'll be in the GP next weekend, at least enough to target. Bigger crabs in the 'Tapsco then the South. The bigguns are moving north looking for the fresher water.

I tend to agree with Done Workin' - as a matter of fact one of my razor clam customers tried it on Thursday w/traps out near the mouth (only to be run off by the APG boats because they were ready to begin firing) - he didn't come home entirely empty handed.
I predict more like two weeks - good season for all so far!

bayhead,
are you located towards the top of the bay? May be interested in purchasing some razor clams if you have them for sale.
Thanks,
