Any size from 1/8" to 3/16" bungee is good to use. Fix it to the bottom with a Zip tie , hog ring or wire. As to how well it holds the neck in the trap........ I haven't heard of any crabs complaining that the neck slips away while they are dining. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, compared to springs.... I rate it a 14.75! Actually that might be a conservative rating. Contrary to some beliefs...... It is not necessary to place a cinder block on the neck. Hope this helps somewhat.

I did Snoods in my traps with clam bags. What i did learn was that the regular snoods are too long for the traps (or at least Mine) the crabs would pick up the bag and try to run with the bag which would give them some free play but just enough to get their body out of the door swing. I had several "riders and many bait bags out side of the trap door. The previous week I used chichen Nex tird to the floor of the trap and did MUCH better with NO riders. I was crabing with a freind from the mid west who was pulling all the traps and only when we were about to wrap up did he say that alot of the traps "feel" heavy and then "feel" light half way up. So I fed the crabs that day and the beer was cold. I will shorten my snoods big time. I have been useing HOG RINGS to fasten the snoods to the trap.
Hope that helps some.

Here's a pic of a trap snood. It is different than a trot line snood. The bait stays in place and the crab cannot move it from its location. This pic shows it in a net ring, but the exact same type snood is used successfully in traps also.

I was using bags and attached the snood too the top. I will change that and put them on the bottom with hog rings.
