Was hunting Saturday morning but did not see any deer. Got down out of the stand around 8:30 and decided to do some scouting. Walked down by the creek and towards the pond but did not see any signs of deer at all. This is strange. Walked around the pond and looked up to find a lean-to.(This is new) Walked up to it and noticed a cold fire bed, some frying pans, a gallon of water and a gallon of milk, a chair, some beer cans, and a machete. The resident was no where to be found so I eased my way back out the way I walked in.
Not an easy feeling not knowing whether some one was hinding and watching me. I thought to myself that this person may be down on their luck or hiding from the law or whatever. I talked to my buddy that owns the farm and he thought that he may know who it is and that the guy had gotten kicked out from where he was living and that he worked on this farm for a little bit a year or so back. I don't think I'll bother hunting this woods any more this year. I'll stick to the other farms.

I know exactly how that feels, I found a large camp in the dismal swamp one year, Complete with camo netting . I knew I was in the wrong place, the hair on my neck stood up and I had the feeling I was being watched, I backed outta there quickly and quietly.

I've found a couple of those sort of places as well. Like everyone else, my hair stood up and I got out of there! Not a good feeling!!! On the other hand, you could take it as a learning experience and now you know how a deer feels. It should have taught you one thing. Just like, you, a deer walks or runs out the way they came in when they sense danger. Geesh, just thinking of it makes my blood run cold!

Maybe it was a meth lab or something? Be really careful if you find anything like that...it could be someone protecting something illegal. Back out slow and keep your eyes open.

Must have been the "cold fussion" of the meth lab world... I still haven't figured out how to make the stuff with water, milk, a beer can and machete... Maybe I'm just slow...
Back to the lab... Maybe if I sprinkle some cold ashes on the machete before I slice through the beer can while gargling milk.... I think this may work!

That reminds me of something I stumbled on a few years ago.I was hunting on cumberland state forest.I tripped on a water hose and right beside it was a power cord.I followed it for a few hundred yards.I finally got my sences.I had just read a few weeks earlier about booby traps surrounding stills and pot plants. It was very spooky especially since it was starting to get dark.I never hunted that piece again.

come on big, that was just the lodge at the low rent deer club i own.thought i had a piece of land to hunt rent free.we all were out hunting on other farms that we hunt when you came by,just cant park on them.gotta go in before daylight and out after dark and lay low when another hunter[customer comes around].if you look long enough you can find piles of corn in the woods to hunt over.allways wondered myself why in the heck someone spilled corn all over the place, but man those deer and squirrels taste good if somebody else has been feeding em.now that the lodge has been found i now offer road hunting, charge by the mile, get too see alot of game, just hard too get a good hold on em if you dont roll the window down far enough at 35 mph..lol you ready for muzzleloader?can you get away to fish this weekend? later

Pretty good Mike,
Can't do it this week end. We leave this afternoon to go up to Lancaster PA. Wife got tickets for the family to site and sound. Leave there Saturday to to Whealing WV. to a co-workers wedding. I'll be back some time on Sunday. Marcie did say that we can hit the new Cabela's in WV.[excited]
