Anyone else belive Lubchenko's claim that sub-surface oil is "extremely diluted state of approximately 0.5 parts per million".
How the heck did she come up w/ that? Take the total approx spill volume and divide by the total volume of the entire Gulf of Mexico?
Those underwater plumes are probably thick with oil.

Do you have a link to the remark?

They probably subtracted the amount that evaporates every day & the algae eating microorganisims that consider oil a delicacy. They think we believe everything they come up with to smooth it over.

Volume of water is deceiving. For another project, We've calculated the volume of water in my little creek on the Patuxent at 500 million gallons. It averages about 4 feet deep and about a mile long.
That's about the entire volume of the spill isn't it? Spread over 50 miles and up to 5000 feet deep? That's an amazing amount of water. Suddenly that ppt estimate sounds believeable.

I guess whether or not that is a bad or good number depends upon what level the water becomes toxic to any marine life..

Exactly, it might be 0.5 ppm in some places, or on average in the entire gulf, but within the "plumes" of oil they say are a thousand feet below the surface, I bet its a lot higher and a level that IS toxic to life.

If you google "Lubchenco oil ppm" one of the results is a Sean Hannity/FoxNews message board like TF, and all the idiots there are saying "Well its only 0.5ppm, that's drinking water quality." They're also saying there are no actual "plumes" (just made-up stuff by elitist scientists) and the world is flat. Man its hard to believe there are people that dumb.

So, let me get this straight. They sampled at 3 sites about 3,000 feet below the surface and about 42 miles from the gushing well. And Lubachenko reported that the concentrations at those sites were 0.5 ppm.
This is neither good news nor bad news. It is only news. The only thing that can be said is that at three locations the concentrations were 0.5 ppm. Seems like a factual report that no scientist would attempt to use to draw any conclusions other than to say that the entire ocean does not contain huge concentrations of oil. And that isn't even news. Now politicians and apologists, on the other hand.........
Is it possible for uncljohn to make any comment with out name calling.Believe it not your opinion is no more valuable than any one elses, you stated in a closed thread that you knew what party I was in . I found that remarkable as I have no party affillation I am simply for FREEDOM and the current criminal in charge is all about control through any means necessary. Impeach the sorry bastard.

I have no party affillation I am simply for FREEDOM
Its funny how one party works tirelessly to deny "freedoms" to others, and then stands on the soapbox screaming about freedom. Seems that you and the gay-rights groups are right in line.
I too am for freedom! god bless the USA! I'm free to call you out on an internet chat board and you're free to get upset.
(I assume you were the one on Hannityblog.com claiming it was drinkable water....)
Uncljohn your inability to post with out name calling and insults makes you seem ignorant.
I love how this has turned into the BS Board. And, yes, there surely is a lot of ignorant going on here ...
