I have a 07 Yamaha 4 stroke that's developed a squeaking sound.

Started out it would only do it occasionally in the winter months only from time to time wile idling.
Now it's more frequent and not only in the colder months but summer as well.

I was told this was a common problem with the Yam 4 strokes by a Yamaha mechanic .He said the only cure was to spray some silicone on a bushing to quite it down.
Does anyone else have this problem or know or hear anything about this?

Roger, my 07 f225 has the same sound from time to time. Your mechanic is correct. next time you repalce your water pump impeller, yamaha makes a special grease that you can rub on the bushing. I also believe you can order a new bushing that is made of diffrent material that will eliminate the squeak. In the short term some silcone spray down the drive shaft will temporarly stop the squeak.

Shawn Thanks for confirming, will have to try the silicone spray as I just had the water pump Impeller replaced last yr.Its not a big deal really just a little irritating at times.
Cant complain, the only problem Ive had so far, it has been a great running motor.
Thanks again for helping

I have the same noise and was wondering if there was a performance issue (will it hurt anything) or is it just an annoyance?
