View Full Version : Need some Help Sound Fishing

Gonna be down in Nags Head 2nd week of July.. Want to fish in the sound and around the OI bridge... What will be biting? And is anyone willing to share some techniques/ places to go.. I really want to put my 7 yr old on some fish.. Also be glad to take someone if you want to go...

The sound water is already in the 80's and unless we get some prolonged cooler weather it should be hotter by mid july. I would concentrate my efforts on the deeper holes around the inlet bridge, or early am on some of the grass beds. Should have a nice mix of fish hanging around the inlet. Not sure what sized boat you'll be running, there is a few spots just outside the inlet which might be a better bet that time of year. We've already had a spanish run and plenty of blues just outside, enough to keep a 7 yo happy. FWIW, The Pamlico should be full of shrimp by then.

Maybe fish around the bridge pilings for sheepshead ?

Heck, just fish the sound. At his age we would go out of Wanchese and bottom fish and catch everything from spot to blues to Trout. You never know and wont
worry as much about your kids safety with less current flowing under you.
