Can a rec crabber run traps INSIDE the white marker buoys at the mouth of the Manokin? Are they just for LLC??

Clam Line Markers? Or others? Any Markings or lettering on them? Where is Manokin?

They say no crabbing beyond this point. No reference to rec or comm? Does it mean ALL?
Manokin is in between the Annemessex and Deal Island's pennisula

I have no idea on the real answer, but if it were me I would just stay out of there! Many other places in the creeks to crab... I don't need anymore bills, I have enough to pay as-is

They are called crab line markers, and they are there to mark a line beyond which no commercial crab pots are to be laid.

Thanks DoubleXL!! That's what I thought. I've searched Md DNR site for maps and info on these, but come up empty. So I could run my traps 'inside the Line Markers??

I don't know of any markers that would allow a rec. privlages over a comm. Chances are no crabbing means no crabbing. A crab line bouy is the point at the mouth of a river that commercial potter may set pots. This marker says crab line. If you were to lay out traps there you may be confused with a poacher. Not calling you one just saying people don't usually crab past those markers recreationally. I'de steer clear of crabbing there until you have satisfied your answer from a officer of the law, DNR or whom ever locally patrols those waters. JMHO Oh and chances are if it is posted clearly and you can't crab there they WILL NOT go easy on you.

You are correct BM. The line runs across the mouth of the Manokin. Com pots start just on the (Sound) outside of the buoy line. I've seen others running trotlines inside the line and up in the river itself. It would be helpful if DNR had something on their webpage about it.
I'll keep investgating.. Thanks for the advice

Yea just dont run a line past the crab pot line. even though you may not see pots there, they are. Most potters nowadays run strings of pots. meaning 1 float with a flag or marker and then 50 or so pots linked together at the bottom of the river then at the end another float and flag. Just some info for ya.
