Lots of nice crabs, tons of crabbers and an unreal amount of people who have no idea of how to run a boat. Had some older guy and his wife in a 28' yellow Regulator with a little umbrella cut off one pot and acted as if they just didnt care. Seems that they should have bought less boat and gotten more of an education on how to use one. Another 30' boat out of Severn Park pulling 2 young kids in a ski tube went right in front of us as we were running our line. As I pointed to the end of our float at the end of our line the "captain" acted as if he had no idea that he couldnt just run over it. Then his wife asks what are we doing anyway ? I was going in a staight line at under 2 mph and they thought it was ok to not only cut right in front of us within 50 ' but to pull a tube behind thier boat with two small children on it. My wife always says you should have to have a license to have children well they would have failed that and the boaters course. Could not believe how many jet skis used the floats as a slolam course and how many boats ran right over end of the line where the big floresent green floats were. I guess some people have more dollars than sense. I have spent may years on the Severn but have never seen so many morons out as I have today. Its to bad they are cutting back DNRs budget so bad. These type of boaters need to be stopped before someone gets hurt or even worse, killed !
On a better note we got our 2 bushel and only lost 3 pots from people running over them. No one got hurt and spent the day with the wife and kids. Lots of nice crabs on the river most were in 6-8'. I know alot of people travel from a good ways away to crab the Severn. Just be careful out there. Best of luck to you all hope this run lasts for a while.

Yeah, and all those A--holes were probably thinking "why this guy crabbing a trot-line in the middle of the day on a weekend in the busiest part of the river".

One time last summer I was at anchor enjoying myself grilling some dogs and drinking some beer with the family. Then along comes this guy at 1 pm dropping traps traps like 20 feet from my boat. Before you know, my boat swings around get this guys trap line stuck on my lower unit and suddenly I'm the bad guy.

Glad you got some crabs, but late morning/afternoon weekend crabbing is not fun in my book.

Your right since I was there at 5 am I should have cut my day short since other people dont know what they are doing. Next time I make sure to pull up and leave when the "obama " crowd comes out. The only reason we stayed out later is because my wife and daughter couldnt make it down early.

I totally agree but do not forget that some people do not have a clue about crabbing and fishing they just go boating.

I try to never crab on a weekend any more. It's just not worth the headaches. Sorry you had so much trouble but you got a good attitude and some nice crabs. Enjoy them with your family.............Gary

Ouch! Only belong to 2 organizations, NRA and CCA. Go figure! Had a gap in there of 42 years if you don't count a short flirtation with AARP. I'm picky.
