When do the big flounder start to show on the wrecks.Last year it seemed like mid july but im not really sure. Now do these flounder inhabit the edges of all wrecks out there or do they favor certain ones?Ive heard the bass grounds ive heard the queen but i have no solid information. My basic plan when i do go out is to look for good structure and dropoffs surrounding the wrecks and drift large bucktails with live spot and bluefish strips.Does this sound about right?Any help would be so awesome thanks alot guys

I scuba dive the OC wrecks and often see some really nice size Flounder.
They seem to prefer laying along the edge of the wreck - in the sand / gravel. Some are 15 to 20 feet away.
Odd to see a Flounder in / on a wreck. The Sea Bass swarm around the wreck and the Tog play hide / seek going into the wreck.
Some " wrecks " are more junk pile then ship - the Flounder lay close to pieces of steel.
One cool thing - often the Flounder will be schooled up on a tiny area of a big wreck. It really pays to try different pieces before giving up. I've seen about 40 Flounder in a 10 x 10 area. They spooked and flushed like a covey of Quail.
The best spot seems to be the trough along a ship - where the current has created a wash out - tough to get a bait in there though.
The bigger Flounder are present until mid October +/- . Any wreck can hold them - the less fished ones offer a better chance at a doormat.
Live Spot should work well.

In the book I have by Keith Kaufman, this is one thing that is repeated several times. While they are not really schooling fish, flounder will relate to a specific point on the bottom and will bunch up. If you catch one, mark the spot with a float or GPS coord and make the exact same drift, cast, etc.
If there's one, there is likely another.

I wreck fish quite a bit for Flounder off VA Beach. Same concept for you and possibly some similar wrecks. They should be on the wrecks now...I've typically done better Sept-Nov but have done well in Summertime as well.
I like to get on the wreck and drift over it very slowly...so light winds and light current days are best. I drift the wreck from all angles...some times they are in the wreck, some times just off it, some times 100 yards away. Be as thorough as possible. Many times, I am jigging for sea bass with a diamond jig and a small piece of cut bait and if I get a flounder, I immediately switch to a traditional flounder rig. I prefer wrecks with a low or scattered relief pile but try them all, you just never know. The past couple of years the wrecks in 80-90ft of water have fished very well in November.
