When using chicken necks for crabbing, does anyone have an opinion on what size works the best ? I've been using necks of various sizes and it seems like necks around 2" seem to work the best. Any opinions ??

Depends how you are crabbing. Trot line is best with smaller baits. 1 1/2 to 2 inches. With traps I use bigger baits. 3-5 inches.........Gary

Maybe you should go crabbing with me. My wife always complains about size: "That bait is just too big"

Crabs like to pull their food under them while feeding to protect the food from other crabs. A large bait can't be hidden well and in my experience smaller (1-2") pieces of neck work better. I have tried really large necks (6-7") and they do not catch nearly as well as the smaller baits.

1" to 2" for chicken necks has worked well for me in my ctpx. I use a little bigger peice for handlines.
Although once I did tie a blue fish center onto a handline and was pulling up 3-5 crabs at once each time. That was a while ago though. I was crabbing under the old wooden RR swing bridge that used to cross the Severn.
Cadavers catch a lot of crabs too.
