Guys, I know some of you are in the HVAC Biz.My Mom is 80 and has had a couple Mini-Strokes 2 yrs. ago.Her A/C is out.I know about it fairly well.Went over today to check it out.The Compressor Fan was not working....I gave it a Spin and it started up....Also has a bad bearing in it.....Saw a Buldge in the top of the Start-Up Capacitor......Low side Charge Port shrader valve leaks a bit also.

Had it charged last year and it lasted till last week. She is on Social Security and does not have alot of money. The Unit is a Carrier...apprx. 10-15 yrs. old

If any of you may have a Used Fan Motor and a Start-Up Cap.I sure could use it.Also need it Re-Charged and checked for leaks. I will get Model and Part #'s tomorrow when I get Home from Work. For now She is at my Sisters House. Thanks!!!!!! [Mike]

I might be able to help with the start up cap. Let me know the dimensions, voltage and uf rating and I'll see if we have one in the shop.

I found this company and replaced my Fan and Cap ($88) and they have quite a few locations around Maryland. Bring them the fan motor and cap if you can and I’m sure they’ll hook you up with the appropriate replacement parts.

Mike,

Everything we have on the shelf is much larger than 5 to 40 uf cap. All of ours are over 100.

Here is Graingers motor match web site, http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/selectionGuide.shtml?type=motor.

It will be 1 Phase and you'll need the following info from the motor name plate HP, RPM, Voltage, Frame, and mounting to find a match. Then you maybe able to go to Ebay with that part number and find something cheaper.

From what I could find using the model number you provided Grainger has this motor for $155 http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/search.shtml?op=search&N=20740+4294364269+4294336456+4294364278+429432422 8+4294364077&mc=SGSR but don't count on that being right because I am guessing from the lmited info I had to work with.

Sorry I could not be of more help. Bmail me if you have any questions.
