Well I gave it my best shot yesterday. I got into the woods, didn't go too far in case I spooked them on the roost. Waited till sun-up and heard some hens, purring clucking pretty close.

Around 7:30, I started walking slowly down the fire trail letting out a yelp about every 75 yds. I finally got a call back, hurried up and sat down in some brush and waited. Let out another yelp, and he was closer. Waited about 15 minutes, yelped again and he sounded like he close enough to be seen.

Well behind me a flock of hens were wondering through, and they were heading his direction. About 15 minutes later I heard the hens yelping louder an louder, and the tom started gobbling, but he was heading towards the hens, and that's were he went.

Oh well it was exciting for my first try, and now I have a better idea of were they maybe next time, I hope.

The king older gentleman that lets me hunt the property, commented that my turkey voice must not have been sexy enough!!

Give it another try, it's not the easist hunting to do but it sure is high adrenaline. Nothing like a couple of hens to help you with the sound of your calls.

If that happens again, yelp louder than that hen. That was the boss hen and she was having no parts of you coming in and taking her man. Yelp louder and more aggresive than her, you will most likely call her into you to fight, but hopfully drag the Tom with her. Nice job, it sure is exciting!!![smile]
