As the tourney coordinator, the duty falls on me to inform the club of the fast approaching tourney date. According to the SRRKC tourney calendar, the Perch tournament is scheduled for August. Per my observations and SRRKC comments immediately following last years’ dud of a Perch tourney (see http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/showthread.php/270684-SRRKC-W.-Perch-Tourney-Results-amp-Observations), do we want to make it a multi-month contest? If so, do we start in August (coming up very soon!), wait until September, and when should we end? Keep in mind, at least last year, November produced the largest Perch of the year (see http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/showthread.php/275460-Docklight-Perch and http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/showthread.php/275549-More-Big-Perch).

My proposal is this: same rules as last year, but begin on September 1 and run until the December meeting. That will give everyone a chance to participate and likely result in better overall results. What do you say?

I think you have a good idea, Jeff. There have been some nice perch caught this month - but I think it will be even better from Sept on (at least the weather will be a little cooler, I hope). So I vote "Yes" on your proposal.

Jeff -

I support your proposal. That should give you plenty of time to catch perch now and keep them in an aquarium or small pond where you can force-feed them until Thanksgiving. Imagine the possibilities -- a 20" white perch fed on household food scraps!:bigfish:

I like the idea of a multi-month Perch Tourney during the months of August and September. In October, let's just focus on the GrandDaddy of them all, Rocktober Fest! Also, I propose to move the Pickerel Derby to November and December. I would think the Pickerel will more likely to hit lures during Nov\Dec and less chance of frozen creeks. Then in Jan\Feb let's use the SRRKC slush fund to fly everyone down to Guatemala for a multi-month Sailfish Tournament.:))

Rod, I think that your proposals (all of them) make sense. But I think we need the SRRKC leadership to sign off.
