Fished thursday and friday on Cape henlopen. Not worth going if your looking to catch dinner. A bunch of small sharks. On thurs night I was fishing an eddy about 200 yards north of the swimming beach towards the point. A couple of kids pulled between me and the beach where the swimmers were. The one guy took a kayak out about 100 yards and pulled his line out there. He also dumped a bucket full of chum in. Now this might be acceptable somewhere where its pure fishing, but I had my kids swimming in the water, not to mention the dozens of people 100 yards to the south of these guys. As anybody from the area knows, their are plenty of sharks in those waters anyway. But this guy didn't keep his kayak to straight while going out, and ended up dumping a bucket of chum 100 yards directly in front of me, with the tide coming in. Within 20 minutes or so I saw more then one dorsal fin come out of the water, and they weren't dolphin. This happened pretty close to dusk in an area where their are quite a few threshers that feed, especially at that time of day. Luckily I was about done fishing for the day, so I just left. But wasn't to happy about it. The last thing I want is a 3 year old with one leg. On fri. I fished down the beach more towards gordons pond. Wouldn't you know the surfers went out directly in front of me with 5 poles in the water. Hey its not my beach so not much I can do, but the 5 oz pyramid sinkers were still flying in their direction. Maybe even a little more so then normal.
