That is the reason my line has stayed in the freezer. The small crabs will strip a line quick. Not worth it right now...........Gary
Same here. The little crabs are like piranahs.

Crabbers have shown me lines of bull lips eaten beyond belief! Those little guys (I call them termites) can do a lot of damage. Now some good news...first hand information....
Rivers on both the eastern and western shore that are pretty far south are seeing a decrease in the number of termites - I saw it today - crabbed for 5 1/2 hours with foul necks and most baits WERE NOT eaten to the bone. I agree about this fall ...we gonna see mucho nice crabs. It just where you go to avoid bait destruction. Customers are telling me and showing me lines used on lower eastern shore rivers as well and the termites are disappearing.

they arent disappearing, they are shedding and getting larger.
Try brineing your necks in 50/50 salt solutuion for 24 hours. It will toughen the necks so they will last a little longer

For whatever reason, clams attract the bigger, better crabs, hands down, IMO.
Skate are the biggest problem w/ clams now. Hopefuly the skate willl be gone in a cou[le of weeks.
