Many of you already know me as the Tomato King of Anne Arundel County  I am here to tell you that I am about to take on a new title "The Perch Prince of the Severn". JP, Jeff, Shawn, Skip J.A., Milli, watch out, there is a new ultralight lure slinger in town:)) Caught this morning from my pier on a nice high tide in slightly stained conditions. Black Beetle Spin was the ticket for keeping it out of the seaweed. Alright gentleman lets step up and see what you can do! We don't have enough memebers in this tourney (probably because you are scared) You have until the August 7th to get in and get a shot at de-throning me. If you think you can beat me go here http://www.tidalfish.com/forums/showthread.php/290302-2010-White-Perch-Open-Sign-Up-Here-by-August-7 and state your intentions to do so before August 7th!! All hail the Perch Prince!:fishing2:

Those are nice fish, but I would not be quite so quick to claim the crown yet. After all, a prince is subordinate to a king, emporer, or other top leader. I have some inside intelligence from a friend who caught perch up to 13" in the past few weeks. Guess where I will be fishing!

I thought they had to be 101/2" to enter.Maybe it wouldn't be fair if I was to fish too.

Nah, Woody....you have to join this. I can't be the best without beating the best.:D Or if I get beaten, I want it to be by the best.:surrender:

My 20-yr-old daughter, her best friend, and the two moms decided to have a formal tea with real china cups tonight. After having cute little sandwiches and dessert while wearing Victorian gowns, they watched Pride and Prejudice on TV. As you can imagine, this was not a place for a male to be. I took advantage of a free evening to work some shoreline spots in Weems Creek from my kayak. I caught quite a few perch from 8" to 10-3/8" -- not quite big enough for the entry board, but getting close.
One of Woody's recent posts talked about throwing a small shad shaped plastic instead of my usual twister tail as the buisiness end of a beetle spin. I caught many fish on a chartreuse shad until the lure got snagged on a dock and broke off. I then tried a clear shad with glitter -- it too worked well. Thanks for the tip, Woody.

Well, if those pitiful tomatos make you king - then we have nothing to worry about as far as perch fishing goes :hysterical:.
I'll give you a couple of weeks head start before I start perch fishing, just to be fair :poke1:
This is what I picked off my plants this afternoon -

You call those tomatos? Because you are Terps fan I am going to cut you some slack. :-) The only reason I am not showing a 40 inch perch, my Branywine Reds and Celebrity tomatoes is that I am in L.A. for work. In the end all of you rookies will have to bow to the Perch Prince. :-)
