View Full Version : Where's the 2010 Perch Tournament leaderboard?

Gentlemen--
Where is the 2010 leaderboard? Some of us have fish to add. Mine for today are an 11" and a 10.6" from wade-fishing the grass beds this morning, on a 1/4-oz. Johnson Silver Minnow w/ a short grub tail.
Those fish certainly won't stand up to Woody (assuming you join), or the Prince of Perch, or SRRKC's Legal Counsel & Tournament Commissioner (isn't there something smelly about that?), but it's time to get some fish onto the board.
I figure it's going to take 36" or better to win the Best Three, and at least 13.5" to win the Biggest Fish. That latter category could easily come down to a 1/8" margin. Here we go!
Best, John Page

J.P.,
I will put the link up to the leadeboard later this evening. Post your pictures to your report and I will add your entry with pics to the leaderboard. Also, remember to measure in no smaller then 1/8" increments. So 10.6" will either be 10 1/2" or 10 5/8", you decide.

GOOSE how many times can a person enter fish..................woody
FishingRod

Woody, you can enter as many fish as you want. For example, if you catch three 12-inch perch today then I will enter your Aggregate Total as 36-inches. But tomorrow if you only catch one 13-inch perch then I will update your Aggregate Total to 37-inches.
Everyone, please help me out and keep track of your Top 3 Aggregate Total Amount and report them to me and I will update the Aggregate Total Category.
Also, I am only going to keep track of the Top 20 in the Longest White Perch Category and the Top 5 places in the Aggregate (3) Total Category. So if you catch the Top 20 fish today on the leaderboard then tomorrow you catch 20 more fish that are bigger than the 20 on the leaderboard today then I will update the leaderboard with your 20 new fish. Remember the fish has to be at least 10.5-inches and in the Top 20 to make the leaderboard. Also, remember entry has to be a picture of the fish on a ruler with numbers readable (see example below) and no smaller then 1/8 inch increments.

I also want to add that it's not really necessary to enter all your catches if you don't have time. What matters is your ongoing Top 3 if you are in contention for the lead. So if you catch three 15-inch perch and 100 13-inch perch then it's probably safe to say you just need to enter your three 15-inch fish and you will be good for the lead in both categories. However, everyone would like to know about any other notable catches worthy of the Top 20 if you have time to enter them. Also, don't wait until the end of September to enter a fish caught in August. Everyone wants to know to the current leading numbers.

Woody, a lot of us use the Cabelas Hawg Trough
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat410001-cat90002&id=0002065013580a&navCount=3&podId=0002065&parentId=cat90002&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IA&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
for our month long photo tournaments. It's not mandatory to use this particular ruler but its trough design and big numbers makes it easy for taking a photo of the fish on the ruler.
Cabelas also makes a yellow Hawg Trough with metric units. Don't get that one cause then you'll confuse everyone. See the last years RocktoberFest Leaderboard. Everyone thought Chris (deadlowtide) caught 68" striper in the Severn:)).

I am going to be paying up at this meeting on Thursday as long as I make it. Even though I am not really a perch guy, this should give me a reason to get out on the water! I just need to get out fishing more!

You might end up with a nice striper to because I'm findiing them under the piers with the perch and I have seen them up to 30". So good luck............................woody

Cabela's, Woody. It's called a Hawg Trough. 30" length makes it good for summer perch, fall rockfish (though Corddry's winning fish added an inch), and winter pickerel. Lots of other SRRKC'ers carry one.

The official SRRKC 2010 White Perch Open Leaderboard has been updated. Woody (tacklemake) is tied with J.P. for first place and has taken the lead in the Top 3 Aggregate Total Category.
Everyone please remember to record your catches in 1/8", 1/4" or 1/2" increments. It makes totaling the aggregates easier and anything smaller than 1/8" increments is difficult to confirm in a picture. Also, please give me your Aggregate Total if it's in the Top 5 places on the leaderboard.
Here is the link to the leaderboard.

I fished the Severn today....it was out of control! Caught many 10"+ fish but had two that went over 11" (one was 11 1/4 and the other 11 1/2) for a total of 22 3/4 so far. The pictures are not so good (against the ruler).

Beetle spins were the ticket, white or chartreuse but I also used several other oldies but goodies.

A question and a question.....
How does one update the Leaderboard?
How dumb was it not recording my 3rd best fish today which was certainly a bit over 10"?

Ernie, to get on the leaderboard just post a report in this SRRKC forum with a title such as "Leaderboard Entry - Perch Report 08/15/2010" with your report\pics and I will update the leaderboard (I may not get to it until a day or 2 later). Also, if you want your Aggregate Total to get on the leaderboard then post the Aggregate Total amount in your report and I'll add it to the Aggregate Category. Remember all entries must be at least 10.5". I updated the the leaderboard with your most recent catches. Here is the link to the updated leaderboard.

Thanks JPW....and thanks for allowing this "westerner" to join in. I plan to go perchin' 2-3 more times before the contest ends!
Frankly, I was shocked at the quality (size) of the perch that we caught on Saturday. My best day evr!
I expected the river to start boiling with boat wakes by mid morning but the Annapolis crowd must have had a late Friday beacause it was calm except for the east winds (which didn't affect us).
This was my 1st perch trip since Carl, my good friend and perch mentor, passed away. I think he orchestrated the day for us to keep the passion alive. One of the guys I was with caught 110+ quality fish. Only a few were less than 8"!
All of my fish were caught with Ultra Light gear using 4 lb test. Nothing like it! I even dropped my favorite rig into the drink and was able to retrieve it by dragging a bigger jig along the bottom....
