This will be my 1st year on the Corrotoman, and was wondering how bad the nettles get in her. Realize they are a function of salinity and all, just wondering how bad the average year is.... Need to get wetsuits for the kids to tube and ski?

They're tough to predict. Sometimes they are in one cove, and not in another. Having suits around is probably a good idea eventhough you may not need to use them on some days.

Last year sucked, the prior summer was great. Usually if you go way up the river there are no nettles, was not the case last year.
Had more than one weekend with unhappy kids at the beach.
Saw fewer in the Rapp than up the corrotoman.
Keeping my fingers crossed this year.

I have found over the last 15 years, that the skiing/tubing is best up the Western Branch, way,way up the Western Branch. Pulled my kids and their friends for hours with minimal or no stings.

You guys need to come down to the Little Wicomico at the mouth of the Potomac where every July we have the anual naked sea nettle tossing duels! [grin]
