Herring numbers are picking up Jr caught about 50 in 2 hours yesterday while I played with the shad. 50 works out great for me as I normally get 90 or 100 filets in a 5 gallon bucket. Shad wanted gold/pink darts over spoons. Just a heads up for you guys wanting a few herring to salt or use for bait. Mid afternoon seemed to produce a little better than I did as 3 guys pulling out as I pulled in at 5:30pm had coolers full of herring. Dam action looked fairly steady too. Oh yea hooked up one BIG white shad that I let Jr battle for abut 5 minutes before he quick released her at the boat. Good thing as he would have had a fit having to thow the biggest fish of the day back as they all look the same to him. His reply to me after loosing the white was dad that was a citation herring you got to catch him again. Citation herring..? Humm! Well I guess if I actually caught a herring that big Id be hollaring State Record instead of citaton so I didn't argue that one a bit.

Have a good one

Ain't it fun fishing with the kids. They could care less as long as its a fish. My six year old was in the backyard today ketchin yard Trout. The wife sneaked a few shots of him in the fighting mode, he was putting on a show. He had the line tied to a tree limb and was giving it all he had. [grin]Getting Practice[grin]
