Just got back from a long weekend at the river, and did some good fishing while I was there. Saturday we piddled around the marina and played with the schoolies at Windmill Light, and attempted to get some croaker in the river-- nothing there. Sunday we ran north to first the Asphalt Pile, where we did nothing at all. We went further north to the NNR, where we joined the parking lot and limited out after about 5 hours of hard fishing. The fish (idk if they were rockfish or not) would hit the line, peel about a foot of line off (drags were set low) and then let go. We tried everything to get the little devils, but couldnt. My guess is that they were either little trout, or the rockfish got smart enough to grab something and take it a little bit before fully eating it. Today we went off to the cell area on a just gorgeous day- we thought sunday was beautiful, but that was ugly compared to today. Arrived late, but managed to get 5 flatties from 19-24 inches.
Overall, a productive, and beautiful weekend (the weatherman must have forgotten it was memorial day)
