GoFISHn Interviews NOAA's Eric Schwaab

Head of the National Marine Fisheries Service sits down with GoFISHn's Ned Desmond to talk about fishery closures, the Magnuson-Stevens Act, recreational fishing, and more.

GoFISHn (www.gofishn.com), "where anglers connect," posted a three-part interview this past weekend with one of the most important men in fisheries management: Eric Schwaab. Schwaab was appointed six months ago to run the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association's National Marine Fisheries Service, which is responsible for overseeing both recreational and commercial fishing in federal waters. Schwaab is well respected in conservation and sportfishing circles. He served in a number of roles at Maryland's Department of Natural Resources.

GoFISHn's founder and president Ned Desmond sat down with him at NOAA's headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland on Thursday, August 26. Among the pressing issues Schwaab discusses with GoFISHn are stock assessments, fishery closures, better stock management, the Interagency Oceans Policy Taskforce and the importance of recreational fishing.
