I don't want to burn any spots or anything.
I went crabbing yesterday 09/06/10, haven't been in weeks. Long story short - best crabbing i've experienced since i've been living around Baltimore (1999). 7' of water, 28 topless traps with necks. 2 runs and i had over a 1/2 basket of rusty's. They were not BIG crabs, but they were nice. Embarrassingly, i ran out of bait.......they were SNAPPING. Only needed enough for Melissa and myself, so headed for the ramp after maybe an hour at most.
Listen to this - i had a spanish mackerel carcass that i had caught. Cut it up and put it in a few of the traps. They ate it to the bones so fast, it was nothing but bones by the time i pulled it the first time. I guess that meat was just too soft and they really worked it over.
Gonna give it another try this week - if it's as good as it was..........i'm hanging up the fishing rods for a couple weeks and focusing my efforts on crabbing.
