Can anyone give me the basics on fishing fro stripers on the river. Im heading out tommorrow and I am unsure if I should work topwater or troll.

If trolling is the answer, how light tackle do I use, what size lures/jig heads?

Any winning compbinations and can someone point me in the correct direction? I will be leaving out of arden

Thanks

Check this Thread (Any reports of Rockfish in the Severn River yet?) on the main board. Hope this helps, BTW I live in Arden also! I be happy to give you some of my tips that I use. Rod

I'm going out tomorrow to and I'm heading for Luce Creek to check it out for big perch. I know the big stripers hang around this creek and the LY'S are there too.I use my 1/8 oz feather spinner bait for both.......................woody

In the fall, the main thing I look for is breaking fish. If you find them, then you can catch fish on pretty much anything. I like to use jigging spoons around them, the idea being that bigger fish are down lower. If I don't see breakers, or suspicious bird activity, I'll fish spots near structure that I know are usually good for perch. Rat-L-Traps work well, as do soft plastics, bucktails, etc. for shallow water structure in the severn I look for weedbeds, docks near a good drop off (the shorter docks are usually the ones near the quicker dropoffs), rip rap, points, and downed trees. I usually have the best luck fishing the Round Bay area - water quality is usually decent here.

I'll be out tomorrow AM in a 19' Sea Pro walkaround, maybe I'll see ya out there

Tight lines,
Trev
