Great day to rap up a 4 day trip
My boy caught his first Cobia at the High Rise
5 total along with an 8 foot Manta Ray that trashed my Penn 320 ld.

Anyone know a good reel repair shop in the area?

congrats on the cobes-- how long of a run was it??

For that busted reel, check out Queens creek-- they do penn, shimano, and most anything else

Not much of a run on the cobes
We were using 40+lb test on good reels & rods
they were all between 38" & 40"
so we could muscle them in

The 8'manta could not have hit a better rig
60lb spider on a Penn 320ld
45 minute fight
once he stripped the gears
we hand lined him in
finally got her to the surface & she was not done
flatened the hook & she was gone

All in all fo the best
no idea what I would have done with her on my deck
We thought we had the record Cobia or we would have cut the line sooner

Errr, in hind site, my report is lacking

south of the hi-rise in 12ft of water, ocean side

Best hits were on whole squid
