We drift three rods usually (rookies, I know) and have on a pink, a "bull minnow" color green, and chartreuse or yellow.

No pattern except our bigger ones were caught on the "bull minnow" green color. Pink is consistent and so are the others.

We really just like to put some of each out!!

A buddy of mine really has confidence in the blue and purple color and he catches bigger fish than we do!! - at least some of the time!!

I sometime believe colors are more for the fisherman than the fish - but who knows?

Pink and white for us - and lately the white has been most productive. Put out some green last week and nothing - I am not so sure they care but it seems to make a difference if you fish with what you are confident about.

Been thinking about blue but can't assign a good enough theory to buy more tackle.

I agree with Dave that the white one & pink one has been the most productive. I use Matty J rigs because of the quality, but want to try Dean's this seaon too!

We always start out with 4 rods-white, pink, green, yellow and see which is most productive. If there are good results on certain color(s), we begin to switch to that color(s).

Be aware that some times a change in the depth, sunlight/cloud cover, location, drift direction, bottom, time of day-may require you to switch back to the above basic 4 colors and start the process all over again. IE The Hampton Bar-pink has been hot lately, but move out to the 3 Sisters and white has been the hot color lately.

Last weekend I could only get a bite with Green. We tried
pink, blue/white and white , but all bites came on the green
flounder rig.

Yeah, and I see that Kevin has invested in yet another bait - Gulp in green. I couldn't get anything to worm last weekend but I am loaded for bear now.

I am headed out Thursday. After reading this thread, my tackle box looks like a Crayola box. After two earlier trips where we could not keep the big croakers off our flounder bait, hopefully the third tiime will be the charm. I won't be back at the computer until late Sunday, but will post results then. Rest of the week at the river, but unlike some of you guys with fishing wives, mine is a golfer so we will be making the rounds of Hobbs Hole and Piankatank.

Dave,

Your right about the expanded rainbow of colors in my tackle box/arsenal. One of the guys we fish with has been using the Berkley Gulps and catching some blue fish, croakers & flounder. I am amazed the darn things actually work, so I have added them to my list of things to try.

I fish 6 lines with a combination of green, pink, and white. Sometimes blue. I have not caught the big one this Summer. Maybe my luck will change this weekend. Hope the bite is on Sat!
