:eek2: - Never good when a neighbor comes up and says - I think something exploded in your garage.

He said it sounded like a air hose or gas line. Was very loud - then piltered out.

Well , any diver knows - that is not good news.
Luckily - no damage done - just some little stuff pushed around that was close to the tank.

No idea why it went - was filled about 3 weeks ago and been stored in the garage where I keep my tanks. The shop is good about filling to 2,900 - 3,000 PSI.

Glad it was not in the boat cabin - I keep at least one tank on the boat.

Dropping it off at dive shop tonight - with a few other empties - see what their opinion is about it.

Busted a burst disk years ago - tank hit a boat cleat just right. That one only leaked - the one in my garage seems to have truely burst.

Sounds like it just finally gave up. Metal fatigue? I would hate to have that happen at 80 feet!!

The dive shop said - sometimes they fail - no reason why.

This tank was 6 years old. The disk had burst but what was left looked to be in decent shape.

I dive in some nasty water - near Annapolis - often getting in the mud. Thought perhaps something corroded the disk but dive shop did not think that was the cause.

The shop have had tanks brought in with burst disks - these were stored in trunks of cars on hot summer days. The tank heats up - air expands - POP goes the disk.

Skip,
You ever get down Virginia Beach way to dive? If you do, give me a shout and let's make a few dives!

Ricky - I have not dove off Va. Beach for a long time.

I try to get to Moorehead 1-2 a year.

This year has been busy - missed getting there.
Va. Beach is about 4 hours for me - might take you up on it.
