All,

Please state your intentions to participate in the SRRKC Roctoberfest Tournament in this thread. Please see details below:

**You must state your intention to participate and pay no later than Wednesday, October 6th's meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting please send a PM to me or Skip (27 sailfish) to make payment arrangements - Thanks.**

All per Rod's request and to make it easier on everyone, we are adding the following conditions to the contest and posting process. Rod will only be posting fish on the leaderboard that are 23 inches or larger for the contest. Please post all of your pictures of smaller than 23 inch fish as well because we want to see what everyone is catching and in case of a slow tournament we may have to fall back on those fish to determine a winner. Those fish won't be added to the leaderboard. It just makes it easier on Rod as far as record keeping and historically we have a lot of fish above that range. Also, please post the size of your fish in 1/4 inch increments (i.e 22.25 inches, 22.50 inches, 22.75 inches, etc). This also makes it easier on Rod than trying to add fractions like 22 7/8 and 23 9/16. Thank you very much!! As always, a huge round of applause for Rod for doing the leaderboard year after year!! We really appreciate it! The club owes you a couple of beers!

Count me in. I'll get my money to Mark before he has to give it to Chris or Rod.
According to Woody, I'll be fishing in Hopkins and Maynadier for them this year...or at least, I'll be following the "Lake Hopper" around.

I'm in! Mark, can we make the minimum fish size requirement 23-inches, to help make managing the leaderboard a little bit easier.

My friend Stanley Watkins is in too--we've left our entry fees in the hands of our Legal Counsel. If he doesn't pay for us on Wednesday evening, we'll sue him for malfeasance or soccage in fief.

I thought that was just hush money to keep your perch pen/growth hormone feeder a secret.

Good thing I have malpractice insurance.

Sorry bout that Mark I forgot I was the coordinator. This is it boys this is for king of the river. It's what turns Clancy and Larry into raving lunatics for a month. It burns more gas then a NASCAR race. It's been know to cause insomnia, drunken rants, marital issues, dislexia, bankruptcy, vomiting, loss of vision, and good stern talkings to by my boss. It comes with a warning label alcohol may intensify the effect. So for those who've never fished this tourney welcome to the maddness. To the rest of you good luck cancel all prior engagements and get ready. I will be at the meeting and collecting loot. The rest of you no good scullywags send cold hard cash to 1200 M Gemini Dr Annapolis 21403 and include you tourneyment entry money too.

Mark and Evans, can you update the official rules with the minimum fish size for tournament entry. I'm also proposing to round the fish size down to nearest the 1/4" instead of 1/8". So if you catch a 23 7/8" fish then round it down to 23 3/4".

I also propose FishingRod makes the final ruling on all lengths after he examines the photos. (FishingRod, that check for $50 is in the mail!) Seriously, I trust him to make the best determination in case of a open/mouth closed thing.

Chris, to keep things simple maybe we should just say it's okay to measure with the mouth wide open and get every 1/4" possible (this would be fine with me for the tournament). The closed mouth measurement rule is the MD DNR's rules. Since we have a 23" minimum size fish requirement no one will have to worry about getting a ticket from the DNR. If you keep a measured fish of 18" with the mouth wide open and the DNR measures the fish with the mouth closed then you risk getting a ticket for having an under size fish. I'm probably not gonna make the meeting tonight but maybe this "To Measure with Mouth Shut or Open" topic should be put on the agenda to discuss. If you take a look at last years leaderboard
http://www.marylandkayakfishing.com/RocktoberFest09/Leaderboard.htm
people measured both ways. I think your 27 1/2" fish would have been 31 1/32" if you opened up the mouth and stretched out the lower jaw:wink44:.
Here's the MD DNR way to measure a fish.

Mark, thanks for adding the 23" min requirement and 1/4" increments to the official rules. Was a decision made if the mouth has to be open or shut when measuring? I think we should go ahead and say it doesn't matter, just to keep things simple. The mouth can be open or shut when measuring the fish.

Open or shut on the mouth sounds good to me Rod! Thanks again for doing the leaderboard! The club really appreciates it!!
