:eek2: - Some confusion.
It was called to my attention - last meeting ( Sept ) was on Weds so the Oct. meeting will be on a Thursday.
We are trying to accomudate as many SRRKCers as we can - hence the staggered meeting nights.
There has been some interest in meeting at " Lures " - on Rt. 178 Generals Hgwy - so we'll give that place a try. Normal 6:30 / 7:00 start time. It is right across from the old Crownsville Mental hosp. - gotta to be a twisted joke there somewhere.
Anyhow - sorry for any mix up - hope everyone can make it.
Could use a rough idea who plans to attend - to forewarn the restaurant.
Friendly reminder - Rocktober sign up cut off will be at that meeting.

I'll be there, Skip. But does this mean an extra day for the Perch Derby?

I will be on travel again (this time in Scranton, PA) and will miss the meeting. I am glad to hear that you will give Lures a try. If the weather is nice, they have a small outdoor garden area which would be nice for a club gathering.
The Lures owner's name is Chuck Soja, a fisherman. I took him fishing on my Parker several years ago before he bought the restaurant.

Scratch that... just checked my old records... looks like Chuck never bought the mandatory round of brews... what an excellent opportunity for him to officially join the club!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to stop by. I have family in town form Texas. However, I still plan on attending a future meeting.
Thanks again for allowing me to fish the tourney.

Larry? Larry! Is that really you? After your plane went down and we searched all the surrounding islands, a lot of us gave up, but I told them....I told them....one day, he'd just nonchalantly show back up on the SRRKC site as if nothing happened. Welcome back, buddy!

Larry and Tony B. were hiding out at the SRRKC ex-presidents retreat at an undisclosed location.:eek2:

I know I told everyone about my first trip to Lure's. I'll admit, I bashed it pretty good.
2nd trip w/ wife and neighbors, figure Maybe it was a one-time thing, it'll be better. Get in the door, hostess is taking someone to their seat right in front if us. So we wait patiently for a few minutes, as soon as hostess gets back a "regular" customer comes in the door behind us and the hostess says "Oh Mrs Johnson, so glad to see you, let me take you to your table" and she leads the person around us and makes us wait another 5 minutes. Literally we were looking at each other like Did that really just happen?.
Wife orders Mandarin Chicken Salad. Chicken salad shows up and wife is eating it and says "Wasn't this supposed to be 'mandarin'?" so we ask the waitress and she says "Oh we're out of mandarin oranges. Would you like me to get you some regular orange slices?"
Seriously? LIke she thought we wouldn't notice?
Well I'm eating my Bratwurst and Sauerkraut and say to myself "Wasn't this supposed to have sauerkraut?" and again ask the waitress and she says (again) "Oh we're out of sauerkraut. WOuld you like some different side like fries?"
Again, seriously? 2 out of 6 meals they did not have the ingredients for, yet they served to us in hopes we wouldn't notice?
Its good and all to advertise "No freezer, everything made fresh" but not if that business model can't maintain a certain level of service.
On a positive note, the beer is good.
In light of my second, public, negative review, I'll probably skip the meeting (for my own good).

uncljohn, don't feel bad,
My first and only trip there with Kim and another couple last winter, they were out of Coors Light! :eek2: What The ....! "Go to the liquor store & buy some!" They said their delivery date was like 5 days away, WHAT, None for the up and coming weekend either! The service should have been extra good from this point on IMHI. On top of that the Bud Light I was being served was like pulling teeth to get and if I remember correctly on the warm side. I had to go to the bar to get one at one point. nonono If you know that parking lot, we had front row parking, so there wasn't a lot of customers either.
Also it wasn't a inexpensive place to eat either, not that I'm a penny pincher by far. If the service and atmosphere is right, the price is what it is! But I will give them another shot at my business.

FYI, they do take reservations there...

While that's fine and good, tables were available for both parties, so regardless of a preexisting reservation, the first group there (that had been waiting already) should have been seated. Of course, if you only care about "regular" customers and already have plenty of them, then I guess there's no need to be courteous to a non-regular. But then, I don't work in the food service industry anymore. Maybe things have changed. I now work in the "I'm a customer and want decent treatment" industry. Otherwise known as the "Annapolis has a boatload of other restaurants that are more than happy to work for my business" industry.
Seriously, brats and kraut but no kraut? AND just serve it anyway and hope noone notices?!?!?

The way it sounds, I better call them and make a "Reservation" for
a 12-pack of Miller Light Beer.:chugbeer:

Well, the Mahi sure looks good on the website, so I'm looking forward to that. Unfortunately, I won’t be there until between 7:45-8 (and I'm well aware that I'm carrying the prize purse for the W. Perch tourney). So, if you won and can hang around until at least then, that would be great.
Finally, if at around 7:30 someone can put in an order for me for the Mahi dinner (w/loaded mashed potatoes), I'd be appreciative!

Uncljohn - Give them the benefit of a doubt. I can not imagine a hostess slighting your group on purpose.
Problems pop up - big deal. Look at a wedding - planned for months - still stuff goes wrong.
Got to roll with it in life. Look at the good side - you are out with friends - have enough cash to go out to eat.
Far too many go hungry or are out of work.
Quick true story - I was working in Baltimore a few years ago and went to a small shop to get a soda.
The clerk handed me my change but turned her head - I thought in a very disresptful way. I'm used to looking people in the eye.
Well , turns out - she was foreign - in her country - it is disrespectful to look at someone when exchanging money. She in no way was slighting me - but I took it wrong.
Anyhow - Lure's is looking forward to hosting the SRRKC - good friends , some fish stories , cold beer - maybe even a few glitches we can laugh about.

Agree, Skip. The fact that this restaurant is named "Lures," is owned by a TF'r and has agreed to host us is reason enough to attend. Good food and service will be a bonus.....we're there to talk fishing, not produce a Food Network episode.

I did give them the benefit of the doubt, which is the reason we went back after our first lack-luster trip.
While I generally agrees w/ Goose in most wordly matters, I don't feel that good food and good service should ever be considered a "bonus" when visiting a restaurant. Maybe at the Renaissance Festival one would consider a good fried pickle a "bonus".

I think of everything as a bonus.....that way I'm always getting bonuses!
I had the Mahi...pretty good (lots of it!). Not the best ever (a little bland), but not too shaby. The mashed spud side was really nice. And it actually came with everything advertised.:)) More importantly, you missed a really good looking vocalist with a great voice.
