I've been told if you have a extra full turkey choke you should not fire buckshot thru it has anyone else heard this or is it an old wifes tale:help:

Not sure if it is or not. I have my extra full turkey chokes that I only shoot 2, 4 and BB's through. I then have tubes designed for tight buckshot patterns, I think they are pattern master.

I have a Pattern Master in my Browning BPS 10, holds a great pattern with Federal 00's & 4 buck. I tried all of the choke tubes that came with the gun with no luck. I got the Pattern Master from Cabela's, I think it was around $80 a little pricey but well worth it.

I have a mossberg 3 1/2 pump I got used that had a bunch of chokes to choose from and found the modified choke worked really well with oo winchester or federals. You need two or three buddies with you to pattern the gun though....you don't feel it when you shoot at a deer but that 3.5 will send you to the chiropractor if you shoot it too many times in a row !!

I have a mossberg 500 that never shot buckshot right. Added a Buck Kicker and it really does very well with it. I still prefer slugs withe rifled BBL but in some counties, you do what you gotta do. I would not risk my gun on a $30 choke tube. Turkey shot is smaller.

I have the Extra Full and The Super Full turkey chokes that I use in my Remington 1187. I shoot Triple 0 and Double 0 buckshot thru it all the time. Never had any trouble.
