I started a thread last week to get opinions on whether to get a crossbow or compound bow. I went with the crossbow. The deal that came along was really good and within my budget and it came with all accessories ready to hunt. I bought a close to new Horton Legend HD 175 with the Realtree Camo. Its only been shot 20 times and came with a 4x32 Tru Glo scope, Gold Tip Arrows and Muzzy Broadheads. Bow is an awesome shape and the guy even gave me the black hard case that goes with it all for $375. I think I got a really good deal! All I got to buy is a few field points and a rope cocker and I am all set.

I'm going to shot it tonight when i get home to see if I am on but I will be in the woods with it no later than tomorrow evening. This doesnt mean that I am not interested in the Compound Bow....I just figured if I wanted a bow to hunt with now than crossbow was the way to go just because the guy gave me everything and all I have to do is target shoot and I am ready. Happy with my buy and look forward to getting the oppurtunity to bowhunt this year!

I don't know anything about the Horton but it sounds to me like you got an awesome deal. If you find your not hitting your bullsye everytime with the Muzzy's switch to a mechanical head like the SpitFires. They fly true just like you field points...Good Luck!

Good luck with your new set up. I broke my neck in January of 2004 and was shooting a crossbow in September of 2004 because there was no way I could draw a compound. I have been using the crossbow ever since as I have a permanent disability permit. I have killed over 100 deer with a compound but I might try a longbow for the challenge. I think I can pull one at this point. I really just hunt for meat now so either one would be fine. I saw a 10 point crossbow at Bass Pro for $2400.00:eek2: Holy chit...........Gary

Yea Ten Point's are awesome but will drain your pockets. Matter of fact the guy I bought this one from had a $1800 Ten Point. A lot of damn money for a crossbow!!!

WTG on the turkey! I'llbet there was less damage than the one i got with the Black powder a couple years ago. After plucking you could see through part of it. Croosbows are awsome, Wish I could afford one.
