The 3 day season perfectly straddled the full moon.

Not a great stretch for me. I saw one deer during daylight on Thursday morn... and it was a spike. Nothing on Friday morn, nothing on Sat morn or afternoon.
A doe and a small buck were taken on our property, and a large buck was missed on Sat evening. Not sure what happened, but the shooter rendered a nice sized holly tree to his posession from 60yds.

I hunted my double ladder stand with my 10 year old Son. Not a good early stand as the foliage blocks most of any shot past 40 yards. When the leaves fall, it is a GREAT stand. If I took my climber out and put it where I wanted to, i might have scored but would rather hunt with my Son. Can't wait for his first deer!..........Gary

My neighbor killed a nice 11 pointer saturday morn. 21 inches wide, about a 3.5 year old deer. Had some wicked kickers on it...had some bad genes in him.

The full moon and wind turned out to be an advantage for me Friday afternoon. I was planning on hunting mid day with the full moon, but changed my strategy when I saw it was still going to be windy. My thought was that with the wind so high, many deer would be too wary of a mid day snack after being up all night. I sat in a stand on a ridge loaded with acorns, hoping that the deer would come out before dark due to being hungry. By 6pm, I had four does within 20 yards of my stand for half an hour munching on acorns. Shot a 9 pointer at 25 yds, as he worked his way up from his bed for a snack. Sorry for the bad mobile pic.
